Ruth Carey, RD, CSSD, LD has thirty years experience as a registered dietitian/nutritionist. Her experience ranges from teaching nutrition to school age children, teachers, parents and coaches, through the Portland Public Schools, to coaching professional athletes in the NBA for thirteen seasons. She is an expert in the areas of weight control, sports nutrition, cardiovascular nutrition, feeding picky eaters and eating disorders. Ruth has been a consulting corporate wellness dietitian for over 20 years, teaching classes and conducting individual counseling sessions. Ruth has extensive media experience and currently is the diet editor for “Better Portland” on Fox 12 TV. Her friendly, practical and easy to follow approach to nutrition is part of her success as a motivator and teacher. Ruth is a former triathlete & marathoner and is an avid golfer, skier, cyclist and fitness enthusiast. She prides herself in practicing what she preaches. Ruth is a past recipient of the SCAN (Sports and Cardiovascular Practice Group of the American Dietetic Association) Achievement Award for her contributions to the profession of dietetics.
